Change Shape 03:40
You rise up to the skies Anchor yourself with a chain of lies Will she throw rocks through your thin disguise When she finds herself alone. No sound, no one's around How does it feel when you can't get down Lost the only game in town Peering out through a face of stone. I think I'd like to change my shape. You swim make yourself him Spiraling down where the light is dim Have to break out of the aquarium And make for the open sea. Swim fast danger can't last Nothing is real when it's in the past Nearly broke free of the sea at last. I'd like to change my shape. You do just what you do Hanging around in a public zoo Will she get wise to the monkey-do when she sees that awful tail. Change shape change shape People walk by with their mouths agape "How could she love such a hairy ape?" And I'd like to change my shape.

Burning 03:55
standing alone on a windy night incandescent tree forms a signal light burning clearly through the air burning till the world's laid bare bird in the night, won't you call you call these exhausted leaves burn away & fall now through night i strain to hear whispering from year to year bird of love, can't you hear my heart beating out of time as it falls apart one more siren song is done one more endless journey done. then at last comes a single voice burning through the trees in a shrill rejoice flying through the easter dawn waving till the world goes on flying through the dawnlit sky singing circle over i

Uh-huh 04:41
well, he's a very lucky guy to have a girl who'll dress like that but it's obvious she thinks of him as so much baby fat that's burning like her lover's-lips locked in reptilian embrace with the man with the frozen face, uh-huh. well, i tried to catch her eye from far across the crowded room but it somehow got mixed up with someone else's cheap perfume i see her in a bag of chips wherein she smiles & sits & smokes and suffers patiently my jokes, uh-huh. she got me charging from the gate like a mechanical bull she gave me food for thought until my brain was nearly full regurgitating party dip though my rejoinders were lame they were enough to whet her flame, uh-huh. well, i met her some years later when the issue was long dead she asked me, did i miss her? like a gutterball, i said i watched her gently swaying hips she said, there's plenty of fish in the sea but there is only one of me, uh-huh.

Dragons 04:08
Sunrise looks much brighter when I stay awake all night. Ideas flow more freely when I don't know what to write. My station makes me restless, and I know it's time for flight. Words come out like dragons, taking shape upon the page, Incredible embodiment of all subconscious rage, Insinuating gracefully, like dancers on a stage. I wish that I could teach these dragons all the things that I have learned. Furiously dragons all leave pages black & burned. The ones I love the best are on the pages I have turned.

when the city lights up like the fourth of july you slip into the crowd and you feel so good and the people you see passing by on the street they don't see you at all they don't know you're on fire and the city becomes like a gelatin print like an old photograph that it took of itself and the buildings become like the masts of a ship sailing out to the sea and new york sails cross the sky. the diminishing streets are eclipsed by the air turning black where it hangs from a gallows of sky and the night wraps around your gelatin frame and the city becomes a picture of itself and the buildings become like the masts of a ship sailing out to the sea out to where you're free new york sails cross the sky.
