"I came to the city to be left alone," she said to me without any eyes. Times like this she was cold as bone, and it always came as the same surprise. "I came to the city to be by myself," she said to me as she looked away, and rolled me a blanket alone on a shelf while I questioned the wisdom of wanting to stay. "I came to the city to do my own thing," she said to me while stifling a yawn. While I certainly don't need to be anyone's king, it was suddenly clear I was somebody's pawn.

Let's take our boat on the ocean tonight, drowning lovers make comical sight. Burning their eyes out with gazes of fire, and sinking with chains of desire. Stars cast a light in your false colored eyes, I smile through my Harlequin Guise. I'll try to love you a little each day, if you'll try not to get in my way.

(so off to the moon you now ride, your heart gently pulling the tide. a smile is only the world turned on its side.)

I made a wish on a blue star, and I wished for a pair of wings. But instead I became a blue kite, flying tied to a tail of string. I will spin for you only now turning back to you I don't know what I should do One thing I know now is true You'll walk away when you're through. Now I am a kite in the blue sky, and I spin on a string to your hand. But I look to the light of a new dawn, I will rise high above my own plans. I will sing to you only now turning back to you I don't know what I should do One thing I know now is true You'll walk away when you're through. I will dream of you only now turning back to me I don't know where I could be One thing I know now is true You'll walk away when you're through. Now I am poised on the last word, I must leave my mistakes where they fall. There's a feel to the air that I treasure, but for now I must spin at your call.

Raging like a river, mad to throw its banks I wanna be the giver, but she says no thanks. Suppose it could be better - I could be with you, So I'm waiting for your letter, to make it all come true. Clouded by pollution, and ways to be unkind, I'm searching for solutions to make it all unwind. I'm dreaming of you daily, more than I should say. And I play my ukulele, to make you come my way. I know it's detrimental to crystallize this blur, And I guess I'm sentimental for ways we never were. Suppose I should know better, regarding me & you, But I'm waiting for your letter, to make it all come true.
